The Ethiopian Organization for Cancer Prevention and Research (CPR – Ethiopia) works with universities, health institutions, delivery programmes, funders and other non-governmental organisations. A first approach is welcome, and it starts as a conversation rather than a submission against a form.

Where a proposal is read

A research study. Collaborate sets out what our research units cover and which Ethiopian questions they are working on, which is where a proposal can be positioned. The governance page sets out the committee that reviews research projects and the advisory board that comments on individual projects.

A programme delivering prevention or early detection. Ethiopia’s cervical screening programme is opportunistic, so a woman is screened where she reaches a facility that offers it. A proposal that would produce a facility count, a current coverage figure or a regional breakdown answers a measurement question as well as a delivery one, and both are of interest.

Policy work. The policy and advocacy section sets out the positions we hold and the briefs behind them. The submissions page carries formal submissions and public statements as they are made.

Funding. Reporting terms are settled directly with the funder when the arrangement is made. The accountability page sets out our governance arrangements and what we publish, and a prospective funder should read it first.

Making an approach

The address is on the contact page. Naming the kind of work above that a proposal falls under, and what the approaching organisation would bring to it, is enough to start. The partners page covers the same ground from our side.
